Job Description

Early starts, clear routes and people depending on you: a school transport operator in Isando is hiring bus drivers. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

This post is Isando-based, with most of your time spent at a school transport operator. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

What your day looks like

  • Give tourists a friendly welcome and help with luggage on charters
  • Inspect the bus before each trip: tyres, brakes, doors, emergency exits
  • Write the trip log with times, kilometres and fuel
  • Keep the bus clean inside and report any damage
  • Count passengers and make sure nobody stands beyond the limit
  • Drive fixed routes and keep to the timetable

Must-haves

  • Patient and friendly with passengers
  • Medically fit
  • Clean driving and criminal record
  • Valid PrDP for passengers (P)
  • At least 3 years of bus or taxi driving
  • Punctual for very early starts

On offer

  • Paid passenger PrDP renewal
  • Company uniform
  • Tips and trip allowances on tour charters
  • Split-shift allowance on staff transport routes

How to apply for this job

  1. Check you meet the must-haves first; recruiters filter on those before anything else.
  2. Have the following on hand (clear photos on your phone are fine at first): references from previous bus or taxi work, licence card and passenger PrDP plus medical certificate if you have a recent one.
  3. Use the form on this page. It takes about two minutes and you don't need to upload anything yet.
  4. Keep your phone on. Shortlisted applicants are contacted by call, SMS or WhatsApp within 6 working days.

Your application joins the How2Apply talent pool for this role, and we put shortlisted people forward to employers hiring in and around Isando.

How2Apply never charges you to apply, for training, for uniforms or for a "placement fee". If anyone asks you for money, it is a scam.

How to stand out

  • Write "PrDP P valid until" with the date, right at the top of your CV. It is the first thing a bus operator checks.
  • Talk about safety records in the interview. Bus companies want to hear about zero accidents and on-time runs.
