Night Shift Security Officer (Grade D)

The gate at a distribution warehouse in Sandton is the first line of safety, and you would be standing at it. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

Location: Sandton, Gauteng. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Check visitors' IDs and capture them on the visitor app or in the gate register
• Watch for loitering, broken fencing and open doors during night patrols
• Hand out and collect contractor access cards
• Open and close boom gates for residents, deliveries and contractors
• Patrol the perimeter on a set route and scan checkpoint tags
• Write every incident and shift change in the occurrence book (OB)
• Keep the guardhouse clean and the OB up to date for the relieving officer

• PSIRA registration at Grade C or higher, paid up to date
• Alert, polite and firm with the public
• Clear, neat handwriting for the OB and registers
• Grade 10 minimum; matric preferred

• Previous experience at a similar site type
• Firefighting or evacuation training

• Stable long-term site contracts
• Uniform, boots and winter jacket issued
• Provident fund contributions
• Chance to be upgraded to Grade B with training

• Arrive for the interview in neat clothes with your certificates in a plastic sleeve. It shows the discipline they want.
• List the types of sites you have guarded, like estate, mall or factory. Security companies place officers by site experience.
