Nursing Assistant (Rehabilitation Unit)

A retirement village frail care centre in Kempton Park needs someone kind and reliable to look after patients who can't manage alone. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

This post is in Kempton Park (Gauteng). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Keep the fluid and food intake charts accurate for every patient
• Turn bed-bound patients on schedule and check pressure areas for early sores
• Help patients bath, dress, eat and use the toilet with dignity
• Spot confusion, falls risk or changes in mood and tell the nurse in charge
• Hand out oral medication under the supervision of a registered nurse

• First aid Level 1 or BLS certificate
• Physically strong enough to lift and move patients safely
• Accredited home-based care or ancillary health care certificate for caregiver posts
• At least 1 year of hands-on patient care
• Patient and gentle with elderly, frail or confused people

• Experience in a frail care or hospice setting
• A second South African language spoken by the patients you'll serve
• Code B or Code 8 driver's licence for home visits

• Paid training in dementia and end-of-life care
• Transport home after late shifts at some facilities
• Uniform supplied
• Overtime paid at time and a half

• Recruiters phone references for care jobs, so warn your references and check their numbers still work.
• If you're a caregiver, attach the certificate from the training provider, not just a letter saying you attended.
