Nursing Assistant (Rehabilitation Unit)

Your care keeps residents at a home-based care agency in Tzaneen safe, clean and comfortable through the day. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

This post is Tzaneen-based, with most of your time spent at a home-based care agency. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Help patients walk, transfer from bed to chair and do their exercises
• Hand out oral medication under the supervision of a registered nurse
• Do simple wound dressings and report anything that looks infected
• Follow infection control rules, including hand hygiene and safe sharps disposal
• Turn bed-bound patients on schedule and check pressure areas for early sores

• At least 1 year of hands-on patient care
• Physically strong enough to lift and move patients safely
• Able to work shifts, including nights and weekends
• Matric or NQF Level 4 equivalent
• Patient and gentle with elderly, frail or confused people

• Paid training in dementia and end-of-life care
• Overtime paid at time and a half
• Uniform supplied
• Meals provided on shift at many frail care centres
