Off-Site Video Monitoring Operator – Fixed-Term

From a chair in a shopping mall security office in Gqeberha, you guide officers in the field to where they are needed. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

Home base is a shopping mall security office on the Gqeberha side of Eastern Cape. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Report camera faults and offline sites to the technicians
• Answer alarm signals and phone clients to verify them
• Keep call-out times and client passwords up to date
• Log every event and action on the monitoring software
• Pull and save video footage for incident investigations
• Hand over open incidents clearly at shift change

• Good memory for sites, streets and procedures
• Clear speaking voice on radio and phone
• PSIRA registration, Grade C or higher
• No criminal convictions (vetting is done before you start)

• CCTV operator short course
• Speaking more than one local language

• Shift allowance for nights
• Training on the monitoring software
• Indoor, air-conditioned work environment

• Mention any software you have used: alarm monitoring, CCTV or even call centre systems. Control rooms need people who learn screens fast.
• Show you can stay alert at night. If you have done night shift before without problems, say so.
