Off-Site Video Monitoring Operator

From a chair in a vehicle tracking control centre in Polokwane, you guide officers in the field to where they are needed. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

This post is in Polokwane (Limpopo). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Monitor live CCTV feeds and zoom in on suspicious movement
• Answer alarm signals and phone clients to verify them
• Report camera faults and offline sites to the technicians
• Track stolen vehicles on the map and guide recovery teams
• Dispatch the nearest response vehicle over the radio
• Hand over open incidents clearly at shift change
• Keep call-out times and client passwords up to date

• Good memory for sites, streets and procedures
• Computer literate and quick on a keyboard
• Clear speaking voice on radio and phone
• Able to stay focused through 12-hour day and night shifts

• Experience on a CCTV or alarm monitoring platform
• Speaking more than one local language
• CCTV operator short course

• Training on the monitoring software
• Shift allowance for nights
• Path to senior controller or supervisor
• Indoor, air-conditioned work environment

• Some companies give a typing and map test. Practise finding streets on a map quickly before the interview.
• Show you can stay alert at night. If you have done night shift before without problems, say so.
