Offloader (Container Depot)

Strong back, sharp eyes on the load sheet: that is what a beverage depot in Boksburg wants. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

This post is Boksburg-based, with most of your time spent at a beverage depot. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Offload containers by hand, counting cartons as they come off
• Sweep the bay and clear shrink-wrap after each loading
• Assemble or place furniture where the customer asks
• Strap and secure loads so nothing shifts in transit
• Stack returns and empties neatly for the next count
• Guide trucks reversing into the bay with hand signals
• Ride with the driver and carry goods into customers' premises

• Able to lift and carry heavy items all day
• Friendly with customers at the door
• Grade 9 or higher and able to read a delivery note
• Comfortable starting from 04:00 or working late loading shifts
• Honest; you will be handling customer goods and cash-on-delivery slips
• No criminal record

• Speaking more than one local language for customer drops
• A Code 8 or Code 10 licence (a route to becoming a driver)
• Past work as a driver's assistant

• Uniform and safety shoes provided
• Route-completion incentives in busy months
• Meal allowance on long-route days

• Say what hours you can start. Loading bays often hire the person who can be there at 04:00 without fail.
• If you are learning to drive, mention it. Depots like to grow assistants into drivers.
