Offloader (Container Depot)

Delivery days start early in Phalaborwa, and a parcel sorting hub needs you on the bay before the trucks roll. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

Location: Phalaborwa, Limpopo. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Guide trucks reversing into the bay with hand signals
• Ride with the driver and carry goods into customers' premises
• Strap and secure loads so nothing shifts in transit
• Sweep the bay and clear shrink-wrap after each loading
• Check goods received against the delivery note and flag shorts

• Grade 9 or higher and able to read a delivery note
• Friendly with customers at the door
• Honest; you will be handling customer goods and cash-on-delivery slips
• No criminal record
• Willing to travel on routes that return late
• Able to lift and carry heavy items all day

• Past work as a driver's assistant
• A Code 8 or Code 10 licence (a route to becoming a driver)

• Uniform and safety shoes provided
• Route-completion incentives in busy months
• Help to get your own licence through the company later

• Keep your CV to one page with your phone number big and clear. Depot managers phone, they seldom email.
• If you are learning to drive, mention it. Depots like to grow assistants into drivers.
