Offloader (Container Depot) – Entry Level

Strong back, sharp eyes on the load sheet: that is what a beverage depot in Somerset West wants. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

This post is Somerset West-based, with most of your time spent at a beverage depot. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Strap and secure loads so nothing shifts in transit
• Assemble or place furniture where the customer asks
• Guide trucks reversing into the bay with hand signals
• Sweep the bay and clear shrink-wrap after each loading
• Load trucks from the load sheet in drop order, last stop first
• Ride with the driver and carry goods into customers' premises
• Check goods received against the delivery note and flag shorts

• Friendly with customers at the door
• Comfortable starting from 04:00 or working late loading shifts
• Willing to travel on routes that return late
• Honest; you will be handling customer goods and cash-on-delivery slips

• Speaking more than one local language for customer drops
• Past work as a driver's assistant
• A Code 8 or Code 10 licence (a route to becoming a driver)

• Uniform and safety shoes provided
• Meal allowance on long-route days
• Route-completion incentives in busy months
• Help to get your own licence through the company later

• If you are learning to drive, mention it. Depots like to grow assistants into drivers.
• Say what hours you can start. Loading bays often hire the person who can be there at 04:00 without fail.
