Job Description

Crops do not wait, and a citrus farm near Cape Town CBD needs extra hands this season. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

This post is Cape Town CBD-based, with most of your time spent at a citrus farm.

What you'll actually do

Weed beds by hand or with a hoe
Wash hands and use the field toilets for food safety
Clean and store picking bags, ladders and secateurs
Tie up tomato and pepper plants in tunnels
Prune and thin fruit trees and vines to the farm's method
Follow the re-entry times after spraying, as the signs show

You'll need

Careful with fruit, since bruised fruit is rejected
Able to work outdoors in heat, cold and rain
Physically fit for bending, lifting and climbing ladders
Follows farm hygiene and safety rules

Helpful, not essential

Pruning experience on vines or fruit trees
Living on or near the farm
