Outbound Collections Consultant (Retail Credit)

You'll phone customers who have fallen behind and agree payment plans they can actually keep. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

You'll report in Atlantis. Relocation is not covered for this one. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Report daily on rands collected, contacts made and arrangements set.
• Update debtor contact details from tracing searches.
• Keep calls within the National Credit Act and the Debt Collectors Act rules.
• Answer disputes about balances, interest and fees with a printed statement.
• Dial through your arrears book on the auto-dialler and confirm the debtor's identity.
• Send written arrangements by SMS or email straight after each call.

• Clear credit and criminal record
• At least 6 months in collections, sales or a call centre
• Registered, or willing to register, with the Council for Debt Collectors
• You keep your tone respectful even when the debtor is not

• Experience on a collections system such as Debtmaster or a dialler platform
• A second South African language
• Legal collections or attorney-firm background

• Council for Debt Collectors registration paid for you
• Uncapped monthly commission on collected rands
• Structured weekday hours with only occasional Saturdays

• Show your collection results as numbers (for example "collected R420 000 a month against a R350 000 target").
• If you are already registered with the Council for Debt Collectors, put your registration number near the top of your CV.
