Job Description

Collections at a debt collection agency in Pretoria East is about firm, fair conversations and steady numbers. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

You'll be based at a debt collection agency in Pretoria East. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

What your day looks like

Negotiate payment arrangements and set up DebiCheck mandates.
Track broken promises-to-pay and follow up within 48 hours.
Send written arrangements by SMS or email straight after each call.
Keep calls within the National Credit Act and the Debt Collectors Act rules.
Report daily on rands collected, contacts made and arrangements set.
Update debtor contact details from tracing searches.

You'll need

At least 6 months in collections, sales or a call centre
Matric
Registered, or willing to register, with the Council for Debt Collectors
Target-driven and comfortable with commission
You keep your tone respectful even when the debtor is not
Clear credit and criminal record

Extra points for

Knowledge of the NCA and prescription rules
Legal collections or attorney-firm background
Experience on a collections system such as Debtmaster or a dialler platform
