Packaging Line Operator (Rotating Shifts)

You'll keep the line running at a snack food factory in Vanderbijlpark, feeding, checking and packing product all shift. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

The work is in Vanderbijlpark, Gauteng, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Change over packaging film and labels when the line switches product
• Stop the line with the emergency stop if anything jams or looks unsafe
• Record batch codes and counts on the hourly production sheet
• Follow lock-out procedures when helping with cleaning inside machines
• Wear hairnets, beard covers and gloves in food-safe zones

• You follow hygiene rules without being reminded
• Basic reading and counting for batch sheets
• Able to stand for a full shift in a noisy, warm area
• Grade 10 minimum, matric an advantage

• A food handler or basic HACCP awareness certificate
• Some basic first-aid training
• NQF Level 2 manufacturing learnership completed

• Night-shift allowance on top of basic pay
• Free PPE, overalls and hairnets
• Company transport on some night shifts

• Mention that you can work rotating shifts right at the top. It is the first thing most factories filter on.
• Do not wear jewellery or long nails to the interview if it is on site. Food factories notice and it counts.
