Job Description

Packing season at a citrus packhouse near Secunda means lots of shifts and lots of work. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

This post is Secunda-based, with most of your time spent at a citrus packhouse.

The work, day to day

Keep your packing station clean and free of stems and leaves
Sort fruit by size, colour and blemish on the packing line
Help clean the line and machines at the end of the day
Build pallets to the correct height and strap them
Move pallets into cold rooms and record temperatures
Stack empty cartons and punnets ready for the next run
Follow food safety rules like hand washing and no jewellery

What you need

Valid ID or permit
Basic counting and reading for labels
Quick and neat with your hands
Follows hygiene rules at all times
Available for the full packing season including Saturdays
Able to stand at a line for long shifts

Nice if you have

Matric for QC posts
Knowledge of export standards like GLOBALG.A.P.
