Packhouse Worker (Citrus Season) – Fixed-Term

You'll sort, grade and pack fruit for export at an export fruit packhouse near Mthatha. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

This post is Mthatha-based, with most of your time spent at an export fruit packhouse. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Build pallets to the correct height and strap them
• Keep your packing station clean and free of stems and leaves
• Pack cartons to the export pattern and weight
• Sort fruit by size, colour and blemish on the packing line
• Check fruit samples and record quality results on the QC sheet

• Available for the full packing season including Saturdays
• Valid ID or permit
• Arrives on time for early shifts
• Basic counting and reading for labels
• Quick and neat with your hands
• Able to stand at a line for long shifts

• Matric for QC posts
• Knowledge of export standards like GLOBALG.A.P.
• Previous packhouse work

• Overtime pay during peak weeks
• Transport from nearby towns
• Protective clothing supplied

• If you want a QC post, bring your matric certificate and say you can write neat records.
• Mention the fruit you have packed before and how many seasons. Packhouses rehire the fast, careful packers.
