Paint Preparer (Body Shop) – Experienced

You'll bring accident-damaged cars back to factory standard at the dealership body shop in Durban Central. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

This post is in Durban Central (KwaZulu-Natal). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Fit new panels using spot welding and bonding methods
• Mask up vehicles properly to keep overspray off glass and trim
• Cut and polish to remove dust marks and orange peel
• Strip damaged panels, bumpers and trims and bag the fixings
• Spray base coat and 2K clear coat in the booth
• Mix paint colours with a spectrophotometer and the mixing scheme

• Physically able to stand, bend and kneel for long periods
• Experience with modern waterborne or high-solids paint systems
• Able to work to insurer repair times and quality standards
• Knowledge of spray booth safety and respirator use

• ADAS camera and sensor recalibration after repairs
• Experience as a workshop controller in a body shop
• Measuring jig and electronic measuring experience

• Clean, modern booth and prep area
• Paint supplier training courses

• Expect a practical test panel. Arrive early so you can see the booth and equipment first.
• Say which paint systems you have used, like waterborne base coat with a 2K clear. Body shops care about this.
