Quality Inspector (Automotive Components)

Quality and speed go together at this seat and interior trim plant in Umhlanga. You'll be part of that. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

Location: Umhlanga, KwaZulu-Natal. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Check parts for defects before they go into the vehicle
• Follow standard work sheets and quality checkpoints at every step
• Rotate between stations as the team leader plans
• Pull the andon cord when a defect or safety issue appears
• Wear the correct PPE, including gloves, glasses and ear protection
• Load and unload robotic welding cells safely
• Take part in kaizen ideas to improve your station

• Good eyesight and hand coordination
• Willing to work rotating shifts, including nights
• Lives close enough to reach the plant on time for every shift
• Grade 12 certificate
• Able to stand for a full shift and do repeat tasks without losing focus
• Able to pass a basic literacy and numeracy test

• NQF 2 in Automotive Manufacturing and Assembly through merSETA
• Forklift licence for material handling

• Staff canteen with subsidised meals

• Transport from nearby townships on some routes

• Include any factory or line work you have done, even outside the car industry. It shows you can handle shift work.
