Painter (New Builds & Refurbishments)

Good, straight work gets noticed on this school construction project in Mamelodi, and so does turning up every day. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

Location: Mamelodi, Gauteng. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Plaster walls and float them to a smooth, even finish
• Fix roof trusses, purlins and brandering for ceilings
• Lay paving on a compacted, levelled bedding sand layer
• Mix mortar and plaster to the right ratio for the job
• Lay face brick and plaster brick to line, level and plumb

• Punctual every morning, even in winter
• Physically strong enough for a full day of lifting and bending outside
• Able to follow a foreman's instructions and read basic measurements
• Safety boots of your own for the first week, if possible

• CETA or NQF 2 or 3 certificate in your trade
• Trade test in bricklaying, carpentry or plastering

• Transport from a pick-up point to site
• UIF and COIDA registration from day one
• Chance to move up to a gang leader post

• Bring photos of your work on your phone. A foreman believes a straight wall more than a long CV.
• Be ready to do a short practical test on site. Arrive early with your own tools if you have them.
