Job Description

Got an eye for a smooth finish? The fleet repair centre in eMalahleni wants your skills in the booth or on the jig. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

This post is in eMalahleni (Mpumalanga). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

What your day looks like

  • Cut and polish to remove dust marks and orange peel
  • Mask up vehicles properly to keep overspray off glass and trim
  • Strip damaged panels, bumpers and trims and bag the fixings
  • Fit new panels using spot welding and bonding methods
  • Pull and straighten chassis damage on a measuring jig
  • Apply filler, sand and prime to a smooth, ready surface
  • Photograph repair stages for the insurance assessor

You'll need

  • Panel beating or spray painting trade test, or at least 4 years of proven work
  • Able to work to insurer repair times and quality standards
  • Good colour vision and a steady hand
  • Experience with modern waterborne or high-solids paint systems

Helpful, not essential

  • ADAS camera and sensor recalibration after repairs
  • Experience as a workshop controller in a body shop
  • Measuring jig and electronic measuring experience

What you get

  • Clean, modern booth and prep area
  • Paint supplier training courses
  • Productivity bonus per completed job

How to apply

  1. Check you meet the must-haves first; recruiters filter on those before anything else.
  2. Have the following on hand (clear photos on your phone are fine at first): ID copy certified at a police station plus trade certificate or references.
  3. Use the form on this page. It takes about two minutes and you don't need to upload anything yet.
  4. Watch for a call or WhatsApp from How2Apply over the next 8 working days.

Before you hit apply

  • Before-and-after photos are your best proof. Keep them on your phone, ready to show at the interview.
  • Say which paint systems you have used, like waterborne base coat with a 2K clear. Body shops care about this.
