Part-Time Bookkeeper (Small Business) – Immediate Start

You'll keep the books clean and up to date for a family-owned manufacturer in Isando. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

The work is in Isando, Gauteng, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Keep the filing system in order for the annual audit or review
• Capture supplier invoices and customer receipts on Sage or Xero
• Post month-end journals for accruals, prepayments and depreciation
• Run petty cash and file slips with proper supporting documents
• Load supplier payments on internet banking for authorisation
• Match orders, delivery notes and invoices before a payment goes out
• Reconcile creditors statements and sort out differences with suppliers

• Practical skill in Sage Pastel, Sage Business Cloud or Xero
• Accurate with figures and careful with supplier bank details
• Good with Excel: VLOOKUP, pivot tables and simple formulas
• Understanding of VAT input and output rules
• Matric with Accounting
• Bookkeeping certificate or diploma (ICB, FASSET learnership or similar)

• Registered with SAIPA or the ICB as a bookkeeper
• Knowledge of Sage Evolution or QuickBooks
• Experience with debt collection letters and handover to attorneys

• Thirteenth cheque at many small firms
• Paid study leave for bookkeeping exams
• Hybrid work after probation at some practices

• Say how far you take the books, for example "to trial balance" or "to management accounts"; it tells recruiters your level.
• Name the accounting packages you use daily in your CV headline, such as "Sage Pastel Partner, Xero, Excel".
