Job Description

You'll keep the books clean and up to date for a construction contractor in Umhlanga. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

Home base is a construction contractor on the Umhlanga side of KwaZulu-Natal. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

What you'll actually do

Reconcile bank accounts daily and clear unallocated items
Send customer statements and phone accounts that are over 60 days
Keep the filing system in order for the annual audit or review
Run petty cash and file slips with proper supporting documents
Match orders, delivery notes and invoices before a payment goes out

What you need

Accurate with figures and careful with supplier bank details
Practical skill in Sage Pastel, Sage Business Cloud or Xero
Good with Excel: VLOOKUP, pivot tables and simple formulas
Matric with Accounting
Understanding of VAT input and output rules
At least 2 years of hands-on bookkeeping or clerk work

Extra points for

Experience with debt collection letters and handover to attorneys
Experience with inventory costing in a trading business
Knowledge of Sage Evolution or QuickBooks
