Patient Accounts Officer (Private Hospital) – Permanent

You'll keep the front of a radiology group in Isando organised so the doctors can focus on patients. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

Home base is a radiology group on the Isando side of Gauteng. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Book appointments and manage the doctor's diary on the practice software
• Request pre-authorisation for scans, procedures and admissions
• Check medical aid membership and benefits before each consultation
• Send monthly statements and age the debtors book
• Answer the phones and send clinical questions to the right nurse or doctor
• Chase short payments with medical schemes and patients
• Code consultations and procedures with ICD-10 and CCSA or NHRPL tariffs

• At least 2 years in a medical practice, hospital or billing bureau
• Confident with Excel and email
• Matric
• Sound knowledge of ICD-10 coding and medical aid tariff codes
• Experience on a practice system such as GoodX, Elixir, Medinol or Healthbridge
• You keep patient information private, every time

• Normal practice hours with most weekends off

• Give numbers if you can, such as your rejection rate or how much you cut the 90-day debtors.
• Name the billing software you know in your CV headline; practices want someone who needs no system training.
