Patrol Officer (Warehouse Perimeter)

The gate at a private school campus in Mbombela is the first line of safety, and you would be standing at it. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

Home base is a private school campus on the Mbombela side of Mpumalanga. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Hand out and collect contractor access cards
• Test the panic button and radio when you come on duty
• Check visitors' IDs and capture them on the visitor app or in the gate register
• Patrol the perimeter on a set route and scan checkpoint tags
• Write every incident and shift change in the occurrence book (OB)
• Keep the guardhouse clean and the OB up to date for the relieving officer

• Speaks and writes basic English
• Clear, neat handwriting for the OB and registers
• Physically fit for foot patrols
• Clean criminal record

• Stable long-term site contracts
• Provident fund contributions
• Uniform, boots and winter jacket issued
• Paid night-shift allowance under the security sector rules

• Make sure your PSIRA fees are paid. A lapsed registration gets your CV thrown out, even if you have years of experience.
• List the types of sites you have guarded, like estate, mall or factory. Security companies place officers by site experience.
