Paving Layer (Interlocking Pavers)

You'll build it with your hands: walls, floors, roofs and finishes on the school construction project in Atlantis. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

Location: Atlantis, Western Cape. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Tile floors, showers and splashbacks, including cutting around fittings
• Lay paving on a compacted, levelled bedding sand layer
• Mix mortar and plaster to the right ratio for the job
• Build and strip formwork for columns, beams and slabs
• Fix roof trusses, purlins and brandering for ceilings

• Punctual every morning, even in winter
• Able to follow a foreman's instructions and read basic measurements
• Willing to move between sites in the same city
• Proven experience in at least one trade, shown by references or a practical test
• Physically strong enough for a full day of lifting and bending outside
• Understands basic site safety like scaffolds and open trenches

• Chance to move up to a gang leader post
• Weekly or fortnightly pay, always on time
• UIF and COIDA registration from day one

• Bring photos of your work on your phone. A foreman believes a straight wall more than a long CV.
• Be ready to do a short practical test on site. Arrive early with your own tools if you have them.
