Job Description

Good, straight work gets noticed on this residential renovation company in Pretoria East, and so does turning up every day. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

You'll report in Pretoria East. Relocation is not covered for this one. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

The work, day to day

Lay paving on a compacted, levelled bedding sand layer
Clean your tools and sweep your work area before knocking off
Prime and paint walls, ceilings and woodwork in two or three coats
Fix roof trusses, purlins and brandering for ceilings
Build and strip formwork for columns, beams and slabs
Carry bricks and materials to the workface and keep the scaffold clear

Must-haves

Able to follow a foreman's instructions and read basic measurements
Safety boots of your own for the first week, if possible
Punctual every morning, even in winter
Physically strong enough for a full day of lifting and bending outside
Understands basic site safety like scaffolds and open trenches
Proven experience in at least one trade, shown by references or a practical test

Nice if you have

Experience on NHBRC-registered housing projects
Your own trowels, levels and tile cutter
Trade test in bricklaying, carpentry or plastering
