Paving Team Labourer – Immediate Start

Strong, willing hands are wanted on a school building project in Durban Central. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

This post is in Durban Central (KwaZulu-Natal). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Clean tools, mixers and wheelbarrows at the end of each day
• Sign the daily safety talk register before work starts
• Clear rubble and load it into skips
• Help offload deliveries of steel, timber and pipes
• Dig trenches and foundations to the depth the foreman marks
• Carry bricks, blocks and cement bags to where the bricklayers work
• Cut and lay paving bricks along string lines

• Willing to start early, often at 06:30
• Prepared to travel between sites in the area
• You take safety rules seriously and wear full PPE
• A clean record is preferred for some government sites
• Grade 8 or higher

• Living near the site (many projects hire local labour)
• Some experience with a jackhammer, grinder or plate compactor

• Learn from artisans with a chance to move up to assistant
• Boots, hard hat and overalls issued on site
• Paid weekly or fortnightly
• Overtime on weekend pours and deadline days

• List past sites by name and what you did there, like "mixed concrete, laid kerbs". It proves you have done real site work.
• Government-funded projects often reserve jobs for people from the local ward. Bring proof of address and ask the site office about the local labour desk.
