Paving Team Labourer

You'll mix, carry, dig and clean up so the tradespeople on a shopping centre renovation in Rosslyn can keep building. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

You'll report in Rosslyn. Relocation is not covered for this one. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Set up barriers, cones and signs around open trenches
• Compact soil and layer bedding sand with a plate compactor
• Erect and strip shutters and simple scaffolding under supervision
• Pass tools and materials to the plumber or electrician as needed
• Cut and lay paving bricks along string lines
• Dig trenches and foundations to the depth the foreman marks

• Physically strong and fit for outdoor work in all weather
• Grade 8 or higher
• Prepared to travel between sites in the area
• You take safety rules seriously and wear full PPE
• A clean record is preferred for some government sites
• Able to follow instructions from a foreman or artisan

• Living near the site (many projects hire local labour)
• Registered on your ward or municipal job-seeker database
• Previous site work you can show with a reference

• Boots, hard hat and overalls issued on site
• Learn from artisans with a chance to move up to assistant
• Overtime on weekend pours and deadline days
• Paid weekly or fortnightly

• If a foreman can vouch for you, put their number on your CV. Site hiring runs on word of mouth.
• List past sites by name and what you did there, like "mixed concrete, laid kerbs". It proves you have done real site work.
