Payroll Officer (VIP Payroll)

Accurate payslips, clean tax filings and happy staff: that's the job at a labour-heavy mining contractor in East London. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

Home base is a labour-heavy mining contractor on the East London side of Eastern Cape. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Calculate leave pay, notice pay and final pay under the BCEA
• Release the salary bank file for authorisation
• Import clock-card data and check overtime against approved hours
• Answer staff payslip queries clearly and in private
• Submit monthly EMP201 returns and pay PAYE, UIF and SDL on eFiling

• Reliable with deadlines that cannot move
• Matric plus a payroll certificate or diploma
• Comfortable with Excel reconciliations
• Experience on Sage 300 People, VIP, PaySpace or SimplePay

• Knowledge of employment equity and WSP reporting
• Experience with medical aid and pension fund reconciliations
• Bargaining council wage experience, such as MIBCO or the security sector

• Paid SAPP membership

• Structured increases linked to certification

• Say how many employees you paid and how often, such as "1,200 weekly-paid staff on VIP"; volume matters.
• Mention EMP501 and IRP5 by name; employers want proof you can handle the year-end tax cycle.
