Pest Control and Hygiene Assistant

You'll do the heavy cleaning at a newly built office block in Polokwane, the kind that needs machines, chemicals and training. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

You'll report in Polokwane. Relocation is not covered for this one.

• Foam, scrub and rinse walls, floors and conveyors with approved chemicals
• Store chemicals in the locked chemical store with safety data sheets
• Run a high-pressure washer on grease, oil and slurry build-up
• Lock out machines before cleaning, as the safety file requires
• Clear builders' dust, paint and cement off floors and windows after construction
• Test sanitiser strength with test strips and record the reading
• Clean drains and grease traps in commercial kitchens

• Willing to work nights and weekends when plants shut down
• Reliable, as crews are small and each person counts
• Able to pass a medical fitness check for plant work
• Respect for chemical safety and PPE
• Not scared of heights for window or rope crews
• Grade 10 or better; you must read chemical labels and safety data sheets

• Pest control registration under the fumigation rules
• Chemical safety or HACCP hygiene training
• Experience using a high-pressure washer or carpet extractor

• Higher hourly rate than standard cleaning
• Paid training on machines and chemicals
• Night-shift and standby allowances
• Full PPE: waterproof suits, boots, goggles and respirators

• Put the machines and chemicals you have used at the top of your CV. Industrial cleaning companies hire on skills, not just willingness.
• Say you are available for night and shutdown work. That is when most factory hygiene cleaning happens.
