Pharmacist's Assistant (Basic, Retail Pharmacy)

Patients at a primary health care clinic dispensary in Stellenbosch rely on you to get the right medicine into the right hands. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

This post is Stellenbosch-based, with most of your time spent at a primary health care clinic dispensary. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Do cycle counts and flag stock discrepancies to the responsible pharmacist
• Record cold-chain fridge temperatures twice a day
• Process medical aid claims and fix rejections before the patient leaves
• Prepare monthly chronic packs for collection or courier delivery
• Pick, count and label medicine for the pharmacist's final check

• Matric with Maths or Maths Literacy
• Friendly and clear at a busy counter
• Understanding of medical aid claim codes and PMB chronic rules
• Working knowledge of a dispensing system such as Unisolv, Proscript or Healthbridge-linked software
• Able to work Saturdays and some Sundays on a rotation
• SAPC registration as a Pharmacist's Assistant (Basic or Post-Basic)

• Wound care or family planning counselling short course
• Experience with stock ordering through a wholesaler portal

• Paid SAPC registration fees at some groups
• Sponsored Post-Basic studies for Basic assistants
• Fixed rota published a month ahead

• Mention your daily script volume, such as "dispensed 150+ scripts a day"; it shows you can handle pressure.
• If you're still a learner, give the name of your training pharmacy and your expected completion date.
