PHP Developer (Laravel) – Permanent

You'll build and ship features that real users touch every day, for a fintech start-up in Montague Gardens. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

The site is in Montague Gardens; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Design database tables and write efficient SQL queries
• Deploy through a CI/CD pipeline on Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions or GitLab
• Write unit and integration tests before you merge
• Handle personal data safely, with POPIA rules in mind
• Review teammates' pull requests with useful comments
• Join daily stand-ups and sprint planning
• Investigate production bugs using logs and monitoring dashboards

• Solid Git habits: branches, pull requests and meaningful commit messages
• You can explain technical choices to non-technical people
• Commercial experience in at least one of PHP, C#, Java, Python or JavaScript
• Good SQL and understanding of relational databases
• Experience writing automated tests

• Experience in regulated sectors such as banking or medical schemes
• Docker and Kubernetes experience
