Pick & Pack Hand (Online Orders)

This is steady, physical warehouse work at a clothing distribution centre in Pietermaritzburg, and nobody minds if it's your first job. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

This post is Pietermaritzburg-based, with most of your time spent at a clothing distribution centre. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Report damaged, short or expired items to the shift supervisor
• Label boxes with the correct waybill and route sticker
• Count stock during weekly cycle counts and month-end stock takes
• Keep aisles clear of plastic, cardboard and loose pallets
• Pick orders from pick slips or a handheld scanner, bin by bin
• Move pallets with a hand pallet jack to the dispatch lane

• You can read product codes and count accurately
• Clean criminal record (most warehouses run a check)
• South African ID or a valid work permit
• Punctual, with reliable transport home after late shifts

• Staff canteen with subsidised meals
• Permanent appointment for reliable temps after peak season
• Safety boots, overalls and freezer jackets supplied

• If you have done any stock counts, packing or even shelf work before, list it first. It shows you already know how to handle stock.
• Arrive for the interview in closed shoes. Some warehouses walk you through the floor straight away.
