Piggery Stockperson – Entry Level

If you like working with animals, a piggery near Kempton Park has steady, long-term work. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

This post is Kempton Park-based, with most of your time spent at a piggery. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Check animals for illness or injury and report to the manager
• Collect eggs or check broiler house temperatures
• Help the vet with vaccinations and treatments
• Keep water troughs and drinkers working
• Feed animals the right ration at the right time
• Milk cows in the parlour following the milking routine

• Follows hygiene and biosecurity rules
• South African ID or a legal work permit
• Willing to work early mornings, weekends and public holidays on rotation
• Able to live on the farm or close by
• Comfortable around large animals
• Reliable, since animals depend on you

• Training in animal health
• Production bonus on milk yield or growth targets
• Farm housing on site
• Milk or meat rations

• For foreman roles, mention how many workers you supervised and what you were in charge of.
• Stress reliability. Explain that you understand milking or feeding cannot be skipped.
