Piggery Stockperson

Animals do not take weekends off, and a piggery near Worcester needs caring, reliable hands. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

Home base is a piggery on the Worcester side of Western Cape. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Collect eggs or check broiler house temperatures
• Check animals for illness or injury and report to the manager
• Feed animals the right ration at the right time
• Keep water troughs and drinkers working
• Clean pens, houses and milking equipment
• Follow biosecurity rules like foot baths and clean overalls

• South African ID or a legal work permit
• Comfortable around large animals
• Willing to work early mornings, weekends and public holidays on rotation
• Able to live on the farm or close by
• Reliable, since animals depend on you
• Gentle and patient with animals

• Previous dairy or livestock experience
• Basic farm maintenance skills
• Supervisory experience for foreman roles

• Production bonus on milk yield or growth targets
• Milk or meat rations
• Farm housing on site
• Training in animal health

• For foreman roles, mention how many workers you supervised and what you were in charge of.
• Stress reliability. Explain that you understand milking or feeding cannot be skipped.
