Pipe Welder (Carbon Steel & Stainless) – Immediate Start

Strong welding and plate work for the structural steel fabrication workshop in Rosslyn, with real drawings and real tolerances. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

You'll be based at a structural steel fabrication workshop in Rosslyn. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

• Read fabrication drawings and cutting lists before you mark out plate
• Set up MIG and flux-cored machines for long production runs
• Cut and bevel plate with oxy-fuel, plasma and a bevelling machine
• Fit up beams, columns and bracing with the correct gaps and alignment
• Follow the welding procedure specification for every joint you weld
• Roll and form plate for tanks, chutes and hoppers

• Willing to work shutdowns, long shifts and weekends when the plant is down
• Steady hands and good eyesight, with or without glasses
• Medical fitness certificate for industrial sites, or willing to get one
• At least 2 years of production or site welding after qualifying

• Rigging or crane signalling certificate
• Orbital or automatic welding experience

• Leather welding PPE and auto-darkening helmet supplied
• Shutdown bonus and site allowance for work away from home
• Accommodation and meals paid on out-of-town shutdowns

• List each coding separately with the standard, process, position and expiry date. "Coded welder" on its own tells a recruiter nothing.
• Expect a practical welding test on the first day. Bring your own gloves and chipping hammer so you feel at home.
