Piping Designer (Plant Layout) – Permanent

The electrical contractor design office in Richards Bay needs a draughtsperson who gets the dimensions right the first time. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

This post is Richards Bay-based, with most of your time spent at an electrical contractor design office. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Check shop drawings from subcontractors against design drawings
• Draft civil layouts, longitudinal sections and cross sections for services
• Update drawings after engineer comments and track revisions
• Take site measurements to check existing conditions
• Follow SANS 10111 drawing conventions and the office title block standard
• Produce bills of materials from 3D models

• Advanced skills in AutoCAD plus one 3D package
• National Diploma or N6 in Mechanical, Civil or Electrical Engineering, or a draughting qualification
• At least 2 years working as a draughtsperson in your discipline
• Neat and accurate, with a habit of checking your own work
• Good time planning when several projects need drawings at once

• Paid training on new software
• Latest CAD software licences
• Hybrid work once you are settled in

• A good drawing portfolio beats a long CV. Show a range: general arrangement, details and a 3D model view.
• Remove client names and logos from sample drawings. Recruiters notice if you share confidential work.
