Job Description

Want to grow as a chef? This hospital catering unit in Atlantis gives you real stations and real volume. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

This post is Atlantis-based, with most of your time spent at a hospital catering unit.

What you'll actually do

Run your station during service and call back every ticket from the pass.
Log fridge and freezer temperatures twice a shift on the HACCP sheet.
Cook steaks, burgers and grills to the temperature on the docket.
Plate to the spec photo so every dish looks the same.
Bake breads, pastries or desserts for the morning buffet.
Receive deliveries, check weights and reject short-dated produce.

You'll need

Comfortable in heat, on your feet, for long split shifts
Weekend, holiday and evening work is part of the deal
You know food safety basics under R638 and HACCP
A culinary certificate or City & Guilds, or solid on-the-job experience
Good knife skills and you can prep at speed
1 to 3 years in a busy commercial kitchen

Nice if you have

Halaal or kosher kitchen experience
Experience with combi ovens and batch cooking
