Plant Operator (Concentrator)

You'll run the crushers, mills and cells that turn ore into product at the chrome recovery plant near eMalahleni. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

You'll be based at a chrome recovery plant in eMalahleni. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

• Hand over the plant to the next shift with a clear status report
• Take samples at set times and bring them to the lab
• Clean spillage and keep walkways free of hazards
• Watch mill loads, cell levels and densities on the SCADA screens
• Check pumps, cyclones and thickeners on the plant walk
• Start up, run and shut down crushers, screens and conveyors in sequence
• Call maintenance for bearing noise, belt damage or leaks

• Willing to work 12-hour rotating shifts, weekends and public holidays
• At least 1 year operating a processing plant
• Basic computer skills for SCADA screens and logs
• Grade 12 with mathematics and physical science
• Comfortable around noise, dust and heights while wearing full PPE
• MQA minerals processing certificate at NQF 2 or higher

• N4 to N6 or a diploma in Extraction Metallurgy
• Laboratory or sampling experience
• Forklift or overhead crane licence
