Plant Operator (Concentrator)

Keep throughput up and the plant stable at the chrome recovery plant near Potchefstroom. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

The work is in Potchefstroom, North West, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Clear blocked chutes safely under isolation
• Call maintenance for bearing noise, belt damage or leaks
• Check pumps, cyclones and thickeners on the plant walk
• Clean spillage and keep walkways free of hazards
• Watch mill loads, cell levels and densities on the SCADA screens
• Hand over the plant to the next shift with a clear status report

• Certificate of fitness from the mine medical station
• Basic computer skills for SCADA screens and logs
• At least 1 year operating a processing plant
• Grade 12 with mathematics and physical science
• MQA minerals processing certificate at NQF 2 or higher
• Willing to work 12-hour rotating shifts, weekends and public holidays

• Transport from surrounding towns
• Learnership opportunities toward a metallurgy qualification
