Planter Operator (Maize) – Experienced

Big machines, long days in season: a fruit orchard near Polokwane needs a skilled operator. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

This post is Polokwane-based, with most of your time spent at a fruit orchard. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Hook up and drive ploughs, discs, planters and sprayers
• Operate combine harvesters during harvest season
• Haul cane, grain or fruit bins from field to shed
• Record hours, fuel and fields worked on the job card
• Check oil, water, tyres and grease points before starting

• Can read job cards and spray instructions
• Basic understanding of implements and settings
• Willing to work long hours in planting and harvest seasons
• Available to live on or near the farm
• Reliable and sober on duty

• Experience with GPS guidance or auto-steer
• A pesticide application or spray course
• Combine harvester experience

• Farm housing with water and electricity
• Harvest bonus at season end
• Overtime paid during planting and harvest
• Training on new machinery

• Mention GPS or auto-steer if you have used it. Modern grain farms struggle to find operators who know it.
• A reference from a previous farmer is gold. Ask for it before you leave any farm job.
