Plasterer (Internal and External Walls) – Permanent

The school construction project in Kempton Park needs skilled hands and helpers who know the basics of the building trade. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

The work is in Kempton Park, Gauteng, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Clean your tools and sweep your work area before knocking off
• Mix mortar and plaster to the right ratio for the job
• Prime and paint walls, ceilings and woodwork in two or three coats
• Fix roof trusses, purlins and brandering for ceilings
• Wear your hard hat, boots and harness wherever the foreman says
• Build and strip formwork for columns, beams and slabs
• Tile floors, showers and splashbacks, including cutting around fittings

• Able to follow a foreman's instructions and read basic measurements
• Understands basic site safety like scaffolds and open trenches
• Safety boots of your own for the first week, if possible
• Physically strong enough for a full day of lifting and bending outside
• Punctual every morning, even in winter

• CETA or NQF 2 or 3 certificate in your trade
• Trade test in bricklaying, carpentry or plastering

• Transport from a pick-up point to site
• UIF and COIDA registration from day one
• PPE supplied: hard hat, gloves, reflective vest

• Be ready to do a short practical test on site. Arrive early with your own tools if you have them.
• Bring photos of your work on your phone. A foreman believes a straight wall more than a long CV.
