Post-Operative Caregiver (Private Home) – Permanent

You'll give hands-on nursing care at a physical rehabilitation hospital in Kimberley, working alongside registered nurses. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

Home base is a physical rehabilitation hospital on the Kimberley side of Northern Cape. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Keep the fluid and food intake charts accurate for every patient
• Do simple wound dressings and report anything that looks infected
• Make beds, change linen and keep the rooms clean and uncluttered
• Take and chart temperature, pulse, blood pressure and blood glucose
• Help patients walk, transfer from bed to chair and do their exercises
• Follow infection control rules, including hand hygiene and safe sharps disposal

• At least 1 year of hands-on patient care
• Patient and gentle with elderly, frail or confused people
• Physically strong enough to lift and move patients safely
• Able to work shifts, including nights and weekends

• Dementia care or palliative care short course
• Experience in a frail care or hospice setting
• A second South African language spoken by the patients you'll serve

• Overtime paid at time and a half
• Transport home after late shifts at some facilities
• Uniform supplied

• Name the type of patients you've cared for, such as stroke patients or dementia residents, in your first CV line.
• If you're a caregiver, attach the certificate from the training provider, not just a letter saying you attended.
