Post-Operative Caregiver (Private Home) – Entry Level

Your care keeps residents at a retirement village frail care centre in Phalaborwa safe, clean and comfortable through the day. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

You'll be based at a retirement village frail care centre in Phalaborwa. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Make beds, change linen and keep the rooms clean and uncluttered
• Help patients walk, transfer from bed to chair and do their exercises
• Keep families updated on routine matters and pass clinical questions to the sister
• Follow infection control rules, including hand hygiene and safe sharps disposal
• Keep the fluid and food intake charts accurate for every patient
• Help patients bath, dress, eat and use the toilet with dignity
• Spot confusion, falls risk or changes in mood and tell the nurse in charge

• First aid Level 1 or BLS certificate
• Able to work shifts, including nights and weekends
• Accredited home-based care or ancillary health care certificate for caregiver posts
• Patient and gentle with elderly, frail or confused people

• Dementia care or palliative care short course
• Experience in a frail care or hospice setting
• Code B or Code 8 driver's licence for home visits

• Overtime paid at time and a half
• Meals provided on shift at many frail care centres
• Transport home after late shifts at some facilities

• Name the type of patients you've cared for, such as stroke patients or dementia residents, in your first CV line.
