Production Assistant (Chemical Blending)

Here in Pretoria East, a soft drink bottling plant needs steady people who can repeat a task well for eight hours. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

Home base is a soft drink bottling plant on the Pretoria East side of Gauteng. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Move full bins and crates to the next station with a trolley
• Weigh ingredients or additives against the recipe card
• Feed raw material or empty packaging into the machine at the start of the line
• Check product for size, weight and seal faults and pull out rejects
• Help the machine operator clear jams and reload hoppers
• Follow lock-out procedures when helping with cleaning inside machines
• Record batch codes and counts on the hourly production sheet

• No problem wearing full PPE, including ear protection
• Able to stand for a full shift in a noisy, warm area
• Available for rotating day and night shifts
• You follow hygiene rules without being reminded
• Grade 10 minimum, matric an advantage
• Basic reading and counting for batch sheets

• Company transport on some night shifts
• Path to machine operator after six months
• Night-shift allowance on top of basic pay
• Free PPE, overalls and hairnets

• Do not wear jewellery or long nails to the interview if it is on site. Food factories notice and it counts.
• Name the products you worked on before, like "biscuit line" or "juice bottling". Factory recruiters read that faster than a job title.
