Professional Nurse (Medical Ward)

Bring your SANC registration and your ward experience to a provincial district hospital in Umhlanga that needs a steady pair of hands. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

This post is Umhlanga-based, with most of your time spent at a provincial district hospital. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

• Monitor vital signs, fluid balance and early warning scores, and escalate changes quickly
• Give scheduled medication, including Schedule 5 and 6 drugs, and sign the register
• Do full patient assessments and update nursing care plans every shift
• Take part in ward rounds with doctors and record the new orders
• Do wound care, catheter care and IV line management to unit protocol

• Valid BLS certificate; ACLS or PALS for ICU and emergency posts
• Current SANC registration as a Professional Nurse, with this year's annual fees paid
• You can work 12-hour day or night shifts, weekends and public holidays
• Clean criminal record
• At least 1 year of post-community-service ward experience

• Night-shift and weekend allowances on top of basic pay
• Paid SANC annual fees at some groups
• Medical aid and pension fund contributions after probation
