Professional Nurse (Theatre) – Entry Level

This is a registered nursing post at a mine health centre in Ermelo, with your own patient load and a say in the care plan. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

Location: Ermelo, Mpumalanga. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Do wound care, catheter care and IV line management to unit protocol
• Take handover at the bedside and plan care for your allocated patients
• Admit and discharge patients and explain medication and follow-up to families
• Supervise enrolled nurses and nursing assistants on your side of the ward
• Take part in ward rounds with doctors and record the new orders
• Keep clinical notes clear, timed and signed for audits and legal records
• Do full patient assessments and update nursing care plans every shift

• Solid knowledge of medication safety and the Nursing Act scope of practice
• You can work 12-hour day or night shifts, weekends and public holidays
• At least 1 year of post-community-service ward experience
• Current SANC registration as a Professional Nurse, with this year's annual fees paid

• Unit manager or shift leader experience
• IMCI and NIMART training for primary health care work
• Post-basic qualification in critical care, theatre or advanced midwifery

• Medical aid and pension fund contributions after probation
• Study support for post-basic specialities
• Night-shift and weekend allowances on top of basic pay
• Paid SANC annual fees at some groups

• For night-duty posts, say clearly in your cover note that you want permanent nights, as many applicants only want days.
