Protection Engineer (MV and HV Networks)

You'll design, protect and maintain electrical systems for the municipal electricity department in Lephalale. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

You'll report in Lephalale. Relocation is not covered for this one. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Investigate power quality problems with a power analyser
• Draw up tender specifications and bills of quantities for electrical works
• Plan maintenance for switchgear, transformers and motor control centres
• Size cables, transformers and protection using design software
• Review PLC and SCADA logic for process control and alarms
• Design LV and MV reticulation to SANS 10142-1 and SANS 10142-2

• BEng or BSc Eng in Electrical Engineering, or a BTech or Advanced Diploma for technologist posts
• Strong understanding of SANS 10142 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
• Able to write clear technical reports and specifications
• ECSA registration as Pr Eng, Pr Tech Eng or Candidate
• At least 3 years of electrical engineering work after graduating

• Protection or HV operating authorisation
• PLC programming certification
• Renewable energy project experience above 1 MW

• Clear path to associate or senior engineer
• Vehicle allowance for site work
