Public Area Cleaner (Hotel) – Entry Level

Check-out to check-in in under an hour, room after room, at a beachfront holiday resort in Fourways. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

This post is Fourways-based, with most of your time spent at a beachfront holiday resort.

• Work through a room list, marking rooms clean on the housekeeping board
• Do evening turndowns, closing curtains and setting out slippers
• Log lost property with the guest's room number and date
• Clean bathrooms, replace towels and restock guest toiletries
• Clean lobby, lifts and public toilets through the day
• Vacuum, dust and check the minibar in each room
• Load, wash, dry and press linen in the hotel laundry

• Grade 10 or matric
• Physically able to push trolleys and turn mattresses
• Available on weekends, holidays and in peak season
• Quick and thorough, with a target of about 14 to 16 rooms a shift

• A hospitality short course or NQF Level 2 accommodation services certificate
• Previous hotel or guesthouse housekeeping experience
• Speaking a foreign language for tourist guests

• Uniform supplied and laundered
• Share of the service charge or guest tips
• Meals on duty from the staff kitchen
• Staff accommodation at remote lodges

• Mention seasonal availability for December and Easter. Coastal and lodge properties hire heavily before those peaks.
• Write how many rooms you usually cleaned per shift. Head housekeepers care about pace as much as quality.
