Public Area Cleaner (Hotel)

Housekeeping at a conference hotel in Stellenbosch is steady work with room to grow into supervising. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

Home base is a conference hotel on the Stellenbosch side of Western Cape. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Report maintenance faults like dripping taps or broken lights
• Clean bathrooms, replace towels and restock guest toiletries
• Do evening turndowns, closing curtains and setting out slippers
• Log lost property with the guest's room number and date
• Work through a room list, marking rooms clean on the housekeeping board

• Grade 10 or matric
• Quick and thorough, with a target of about 14 to 16 rooms a shift
• Friendly and polite if you meet guests in the corridor
• Physically able to push trolleys and turn mattresses

• Uniform supplied and laundered
• Staff accommodation at remote lodges
• Meals on duty from the staff kitchen

• Write how many rooms you usually cleaned per shift. Head housekeepers care about pace as much as quality.
• If you worked in a star-graded hotel, say which grading. It tells them the standard you already know.
