Public Area Cleaner (Hotel)

Guests at a beachfront holiday resort in Worcester will never meet you, but they will judge the stay by your work. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

This post is Worcester-based, with most of your time spent at a beachfront holiday resort. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Log lost property with the guest's room number and date
• Do evening turndowns, closing curtains and setting out slippers
• Work through a room list, marking rooms clean on the housekeeping board
• Report maintenance faults like dripping taps or broken lights
• Load, wash, dry and press linen in the hotel laundry

• Well groomed
• Grade 10 or matric
• Quick and thorough, with a target of about 14 to 16 rooms a shift
• Available on weekends, holidays and in peak season

• A hospitality short course or NQF Level 2 accommodation services certificate
• Experience with industrial laundry machines
• Speaking a foreign language for tourist guests

• Meals on duty from the staff kitchen
• Staff accommodation at remote lodges
• Uniform supplied and laundered

• If you worked in a star-graded hotel, say which grading. It tells them the standard you already know.
• Write how many rooms you usually cleaned per shift. Head housekeepers care about pace as much as quality.
